The Ramblers' Association Guide to Walk Grades....
.
Easy:       Walks for anyone who does not have a mobility difficulty or a specific health
problem or is seriously unfit. Suitable for pushchairs if they can be lifted over
occasional obstructions. Comfortable shoes or trainers can be worn.

Leisurely: Walks for reasonably fit people with at least a little country walking
experience. May include unsurfaced rural paths. Walking boots and warm,
                            waterproof clothing are recommended.
Moderate: Walks for people with country walking experience and a good level of fitness.
May include some steep paths and open country. Walking boots and warm,
                             waterproof clothing are essential.
Strenuous: Walks for experienced country walkers with an above average fitness level.
May include hills and rough country. Walking boots and warm, waterproof
clothing are essential. People in doubt about their fitness are advised

to contact the  organiser or leader in advance.

Additionally, the Gedling and Dukeries group has  graded and augmented the Sunday Walk
programme  to help  with the question 'which walk would suit me, -  A, B or C?' ,
when more than one walk is on offer.

A Walks -  Suitable for experienced walkers only. These walks are at a faster pace (3+ miles an

hour) over rough ground, steep ascents/descents and can be 10—15 miles long.
B Walks - Suitable for people who want to do less strenuous walks at a more leisurely pace.
                                        Walks vary between 7–10 miles.
C Walks - Suitable for walkers who want a gentle walk with a minimum of stiles and
obstacles carried out at a very leisurely pace and usually around 3—5 miles.
